Summing up the weekend of doom………

- I can’t believe how badly the Sabres fell apart after Daniel Briere scored two quick goals in the second period on Friday.  Yes, it was a change in momentum - and it quickly turned a one-goal lead into a one-goal deficit.  But it was a competitive game…….they certainly weren’t out of it, and Marty Biron wasn’t exactly showing his best side.  And yet they folded……..completely folded during the biggest moment of the season to date.

- They at least showed SOME heart in the Rangers game.  They battled and fought, but it’s starting to seem like Patty Lalime might have run out of gas.  He wasn’t great against the Flyers, and got himself pulled against New York - after that, the team just didn’t have enough to make the comeback.  Perhaps some more Tellqvist is in order - he played very well (without much defensive help) in a losing effort against the Senators back on Tuesday.

- I’m beginning to think that Ryan Miller’s injury cost the Sabres far more than just their top goaltender.  As this team has faded from contention without him, it’s becoming far more obvious that this is a rudder-less ship without Miller.  He is clearly the heart and true leader of this team.

- Call me a quitter, but I’ve seen enough to tell me that the playoff chances are over - lets use these last few games to bring up a couple of the kids from Portland and see what they’ve got.  I can guarantee they’ll at least be trying harder than what this team has shown recently.
